There's an interesting discussion going on over at blackmare 's about the pills Rachel called "candy" and whether House might have been using regularly even before Cuddy's health crisis.

I'd like to extend a fic challenge (not a contest ;)), open to any LJ user: Where did House get the Vicodin and how long had he been using it? Any length, any rating, any pairing; just post a link to your fic in the comments below when you're ready to share.

As a warm up, here's an evil little idea that's been brewing all day.

Title: Fix
Author: Flywoman
Fandom: House M.D.
Rating: PG
Word Count: 100
Summary: He can't resist his compulsions either. Drabble set during 7X15, "Bombshells."

Marco had given him an odd look when he submitted the scrip but didn't ask any awkward questions.

He'd sworn not to interfere, but he couldn't stand seeing them suffer anymore. His friend's failure to stay at the side of a sick loved one was the last straw. He'd been stalwart in his support of this misbegotten enterprise for months, but even he had to recognize that sometimes you had to break something before you could fix it.

Humming under his breath, Wilson tucked the prescription vial into the pocket of House's motorcycle jacket and then went back to work.

Very nicely done, I did wonder myself how he got prescribed vicodin (and it had a PPTH label on it) - though this is very evil of Wilson :)

Yeah, the 'candy' thing was very odd, as was a hyper vigilant mother like Cuddy leaving sleeping pills where a 2 year old could get to them?

Maybe he's been using vicodin all during his thing with Cuddy to keep up with her, keep his pain at bay so he could be in a relationship and be 'happy'

Thank you :). And yes, I agree, it's very evil. Of, ahem, Wilson.

Maybe he's been using vicodin all during his thing with Cuddy to keep up with her, keep his pain at bay so he could be in a relationship and be 'happy'

This is definitely one theory that's been floating around the comms recently.

Great! I love devious!Wilson.
What is the difference between a challenge and a contest?
Mar. 9th, 2011 12:12 am (UTC)
Have you been following the brouhaha over at sick_wilson? Apparently a contest would be if I (or someone) were judging these fics according to whatever the f*** criteria and declaring a winner. This is just a challenge by which I hope to stimulate the writing of some interesting fic :).

...but even he had to recognize that sometimes you had to break something before you could fix it.

Oh, Wilson, I might just have believed that your motives were (misguidedly) altruistic - had you not been HUMMING UNDER YOUR BREATH.

This is what really happened.

Very nice - a perfect 100 words.

Any prizes for taking part in this challenge?
Mar. 9th, 2011 12:14 am (UTC)
Wouldn't prizes make it a contest?

Um... I suppose that I could offer a drabble to the author of my favorite entry, using the summary/rating/characters of your choice. Assuming that this would actually count as an incentive...

Okay, I had an off-the-wall idea after Bombshells and you motivated me to write it out :)

And here I'd thought it didn't get any eviller than this. Awesome job!
Mar. 9th, 2011 01:28 am (UTC)
I love Wilson when he's devious! Thank you for this.

Hee! Thanks for commenting.

While I doubt that Wilson would ever actually do such a thing, it is an interesting theory and delightfully dark!
Mar. 9th, 2011 02:25 am (UTC)
It's definitely meant to be dark!crack and not fanon. Thanks for commenting!

Ooooohhhhhh....the return of dark!Wilson. Or maybe manipulative bitch!Wilson. Nice little twist there. :)

*evil grin* Thank you!

Foreman picked up his phone on the second ring. "House?"

"So it's better to be there than not be there, no matter what?"

"I didn't say --"

"It's better to be there."

Foreman sighed silently and switched the phone to his other ear. "Yeah, it's better to be there."

"My leg hurts. I need Vicodin."

"If your leg pain's increased, we need to do a full neurological workup, including an MRI so we can see what's causing it. I'll get you in tomorrow morning."

"It hurts now. I need it tonight."

"At least let me give you a physical, look at your leg."

"You know the fuck-up of your relationship with Thirteen was all your fault, don't you?"

"Hey, I --"

"You couldn't get over yourself for even one goddamn minute, and it drove her away."

Foreman's anger at House's jab dropped away, and he heard what wasn't being said.

House repeated, "I need Vicodin."

"Bring it by my place. And if you feel like telling Wilson, remember that I know where your bodies are buried. I helped shovel the goddamn dirt."

Foreman clicked his phone shut and went to find his shoes so he could go back to PPTH.

I think that this story makes the most sense to me so far. Very IC House and Foreman interaction!

I think House might steal Vicodin bottle which Forman found in patient's office (episode 14) May be Forman forgot to return the bottle to hospital's pharmacist and House took it when he was at Forman's apartment. I think it is highly unlikely that House found the pills at Cuddy's home.
Mar. 9th, 2011 11:17 pm (UTC)
Thing is, that Vicodin vial clearly had House's name on it.
Mar. 9th, 2011 05:01 pm (UTC)
Wow, really liked this. I could definitely see something like this. The humming was a nice detail, very Wilson. I like how it adds to the fact that all along he's just been nonchalantly offering advice, and now he's nonchalantly placing Vicodin in House's jacket. Like you said, "he couldn't stand to see them suffer anymore." It paints a nice picture of all that Wilson hides...
Mar. 9th, 2011 11:17 pm (UTC)
Yeah, I enjoyed playing with the idea that Wilson is the charming psychopath you'd never suspect. At least briefly.

Thanks for commenting!

Okay - one House, one Foreman, two Wilsons...so I give you 'Rachel'.

I didn't know you were doing this, until I ran across info elsewhere. Happens I was already working on something on the same topic.

Not a problem at all! Thanks for the link. Mind if I add it to the updated post that lists all of the responses to the challenge?
