The Mastodon in the Room

Okay, the episode title is incredibly heavy-handed, but it still made me laugh. Unlike the equally heavy-handed use of an Afghan woman's words to make Booth reconsider his priorities and return home, which just got a groan.

LOVE Sweets with the hat and facial hair, tickling the ivories. Daisy's lookin' good this season, too, although I really did not need to see quite that much of her.

And Jack and Angela are pregnant! OMFG, he is so adorable (and she is so gorgeous). If I were to write Bones fic, it would be super schmoopy Hodgins/Montenegro, and once I recovered my senses, I would be deeply ashamed. I loved the way Brennan reacted when Angela told her, too. Forget Booth - those two are the real odd couple on this show.

So we frickin' finally seem to be over the revolving intern phase, which lasted FOUR TIMES AS LONG as the equivalent game of Survivor on House. I'm sad that Nigel-Murray didn't make it because he was totally cute and full of fun random facts. I figured that the writers would keep Wendell around for dramatic tension with his ex and Hodgins, but so far none has materialized.

Also, I love Caroline. She is the linchpin. And she totally cracks my shit up.

Wow, your enthusiasm for Bones makes me wish I could find another fandom pairing. Sigh.
I used to have a big thing for Goren and Eames in Criminal Intent, but it all got a bit too angsty...
Although, Doctorpancakes has suggested that I give Nathan Barley a go. So, I bought the DVD and will try.
Would you recommend Bones?

Gosh, it's a tough call - probably depends on what you like and why. There have been a whole slew of similar shows out there since The X-Files successfully paired the intuitive male and the logical female solving bizarre crimes while generating loads of Unresolved Sexual Tension (although this one focuses more on the caring/friendship aspect and if anything goes on too much about it). The best episodes quite cleverly (in my uneducated opinion) use Bones' training as an anthropologist to examine American subcultures in a critical and often hilarious way.

I do find Bones to be a very enjoyable show, although the actors on House are better and the characters more complex and consistent. It's also definitely much less angsty and occasionally a bit on the silly side, although there is no shortage of drama. I may have noted before that the character Bones is kind of a female version of House in some (not all) ways - she's very intelligent and multi-talented and knows it, she's an atheist who keeps running up against other people's beliefs, and she truly has a good heart, but sometimes it's difficult to tell!

Write a Bones/House crossover fic, and I'll be yours for life.

My goodness, this is so... sudden!

It's definitely an idea that intrigues me. Whom would you prefer to cross over to where, if you had your druthers?

Actually, I have the glimmerings of an idea, but I have a question for you: given the 7 month hiatus on Bones and the seamless continuation of last season's events on House, when would you say that the current episodes are taking place relative to each other, and what time of year is it approximately?

Hmmm - sounds quite interesting. I read some of Kathy Reichs' 'Temperance Brennan' novels quite a long time ago, but I do remember Brennan being an intriguing character. Although I did imagine her as being older (I could be confusing her with Cornwell's Scarpetta).

It might also help that I've been crushing on David Boreanaz since his Angel days. (For some bizarre reason, I tend to crush on fictional men who have major issues and limited social skills - RL, not so much.)

And a House-Bones crossover? You really should write that!

David is super cute in this show - I'm pretty sure that he is so successful because he's just being himself instead of trying to play some deep, brooding fellow that he's really not.

And... even though I promised my RL beta that I would take a break from fanfic to write a long-overdue work-related piece, I just can't resist this crossover idea. I have a title and several scenes already, and I'm working on the plot outline, which is the hardest part for me, especially since I'm actually trying to write an honest-to-god casefic with plausible medicine.

Stenveny, would being mine for life include the willingness to beta read this for me?
