I don't think I've actually seen any of those...although I've been considering whether or not to watch the X-Files...

The X-Files was a very interesting show. Something about it really resonated with the times - the paranoia and sense of impending doom, perhaps? I think that one of the lead actors, Gillian Anderson, is just fantastic. The other one can't act like anyone other than himself, but luckily he's a lot like his character, so it works out. The writing is very uneven - sometimes brilliant, sometimes a complete waste of an hour. And unlike House, the first season is not that great. The second and third, though, are excellent, and the fourth is very good.

Interesting! I see a theme here...no, actually, I don't.

Gillian Anderson is wonderful in the film version of Edith Wharton's "House of Mirth." She's a bit modern for the part, but that's a minor thing.

You watched Supernatural once? Why did you never reveal this? (Probably because I would turn into a babbling obsessed moron, although neither the fandom nor the fiction hold any charm for me.)

It was with you! LOLOLOLOL.

*facepalm* I completely forgot! Which episode was it? And why were we watching? Did I drag you into the pit of my obsession?

It was the crack-y one where they were working on the set of a horror movie. I dunno why? It was fun!

Hmm, I have no idea how these were chosen. It's Entertainment Weekly's list of the best cult shows.

The other one can't act like anyone other than himself, but luckily he's a lot like his character, so it works out. Lollerskates!

The only ones I ever watched were Star Trek TNG - about 15 years ago and only because I fancied Wil Wheaton (who I do believe has a wonderful twitter). And the X-Files - also a very long time ago, and only until Mulder disappeared. And Buffy - coz I fancied Angel - which I also watched until he had a kid.

Now I watch sport, Modern Family, and The Big Bang Theory (which I adore and highly rec - and funnily enough, guest stars Wil Wheaton on occasion.). Oh, and sometimes docs about people with strange habits/hobbies. You know, stranger than mine :D

Hee, I'm surprised that TBBT isn't on this list - I def enjoy that one too :). And I haven't checked out Wil Wheaton's twitter, but his blog is great.

The X-Files got really, really bad after Mulder disappeared. It had already been going downhill for a while, though.

Do you watch Bones? David Boreanaz is totally hot in that.

Oh, thank you for that link! I've been toying with the idea of getting a twitter just to keep up with his tweets!

I adore TBBT! It's the one programme that I stop everything for to watch. It makes me laugh so much. I'm surprised it's not there either.

I have the first three seasons of Bones on DVD, and season one and two of the The Wire, and a couple of seasons of the The West Wing...but I haven't got around to any of them. I think it's because my optimal level of concentration for TV is twenty minutes :)

But I am loving the Olympics. The gymnastics and the swimming were awesome this evening!

And David is hot in anything I've seen him in :)

Some colleagues of mine just told me that The Wire is the single bestest show on television ever. The premise really doesn't grab my interest at all, but if you start watching it, please let me know what you think!

The first few seasons of Bones = great before they make the main character into a caricature and we lose most of our empathy and admiration for her (sound familiar?).

WATCH THE WEST WING. Seriously. Watch it 20 minutes at a time if you have to! There's no mystery to be wrapped up in 45 min or whatever so it's not a problem ;).

I can't watch the Olympics, even online, because unlike apparently everyone else in the 21st century, I do not pay for tv so I can't get nbc streaming :(. Did I tell you that I tried to install a dish but a tree across the street blocks the signal from one of the satellites???

Likewise, it was a colleague of mine who told me about The Wire, and gave me a memory stick with the first two seasons on it. And it would be so my thing if I could just get around to watching it. Same with The West Wing.

The first few seasons of Bones = great before they make the main character into a caricature and we lose most of our empathy and admiration for her (sound familiar?). Sounds vaguely familiar...*ponders* :D

It makes little sense, considering I watch so little TV, but cable is one of our few indulgances. There are about 500 channels, and I rarely make any use of them. And yet, I can't let it go...

Chop down that tree, or report it. I would :D It is annoying that you might want to see something, but can't. Because of a tree. Sheesh!!

I've seen none of those at all, not sure if that's good or bad. Some of them sound good but have so many episodes it's a bit daunting.

Hmm... From your comments on my other post about writing fanfiction, I can see why our viewing wouldn't overlap much - my cult tv watching is pretty much entirely of the sci-fi/fantasy/supernatural variety.

Have you watched The West Wing?

Ah that makes sense then, I do watch some scifi but it's pretty old school (Thunderbirds, Man from uncle, The champions, etc). Usually end up watching crime dramas, or non-fiction stuff though.

Haven't no, but probably should. Another friend with totally diffrent fandom leanings is into it too.
