House M.D. FIC: Four Docs, Four Rooms

Title: Four Docs*, Four Rooms
Fandom: House M.D.
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 168
Summary: This is a response to a wee challenge/meme by blackmare , who is curious about what each member of House's team was thinking when Masters asked in 7X15, "You guys ever think about what you might do to House?"
Author's Note:  *okay, one of them is not yet a medical doctor, but she does have two Ph.D.s under her belt, which is good enough for me.

Foreman imagines a cleanshaven House standing in front of his desk in a crisp white coat. At his nod, the older man trots off to perform an MRI, while Foreman leans back in his chair and tosses the big grey and red ball contemplatively from one hand to the other.

Taub sees himself fitting House to a Procrustean bed, his sensitive surgeon’s hands expertly trimming away all of the awkward, unsightly bits that make House too big for any room he happens to be in.

Chase has a sudden, startling vision of House on his knees in front of him, silent for once because his mouth is too full to talk. He hardens and flushes and hopes to God that no one else has noticed.

For her part, Masters pictures House locked in a bare, bright, room with blank walls, with absolutely nothing to do but watch his own thoughts tumble feverishly over and over each other. She senses that this much, at least, they have always had in common.

***

Your turn - what do YOU think each of them were imagining in that moment?

This is awesome. I can totally imagine Foreman's smug expression as he's imagining his ideal scenario.

I love that Taub is retaliating against all of the jokes House has made at the expense of his height. It's devious and kind of adorable.

Chase's...OMG. PLEASE. WRITE. FIC. I've always felt that both Chase and Cameron had a sort of "Hot for Mentor" thing going on for House, but that Foreman was immune to getting schoolgirl crushes and was smug about it...sorry I know that likely doesn't make any sense lol.

It's interesting too though, in the sense that Chase, in my opinion, could sometimes be described as a loyal lap dog, willing to get on his knees for House (in a non-literal sense outside of fanfiction)...so the reverse is his silent retaliation...

Masters--interesting. You know, I've never actually considered this before, but I wonder if Masters is sometimes frightened by the similarities she sees between herself and House. Which in an odd way makes her have something in common with Foreman.

That, or I could be completely psychoanalytical and say that Masters felt guilty for imagining torturing House so she set him in her own personal hell...

But I do like the fact that you point out their intellect as a commonality. I strongly dislike Masters but sometimes seeing the similarities between her and House make me hate her a little less...and she's had a few good lines. *is inwardly chanting "Thirteen!" "Thirteen!" "Thirteen!" "Thirteen!"*

Sorry, I honestly prefer Thirteen to Masters. I don't understand why people like her character, although I'd be curious to know; I'd like to see her described from a different perspective.

Many may disagree with me, but I find Foreman to be singularly lacking in imagination. This seemed like exactly the kind of straightforward fantasy that he would have.

I love that Taub is retaliating against all of the jokes House has made at the expense of his height.
With his plastic surgery background, it was too perfect to resist.

Chase's...OMG. PLEASE. WRITE. FIC.
I just might, at some point. Have you read this? Hee. I totally understand what you mean; I think Cameron and Chase both crushed on House in their own ways, and then of course to some extent Chase and House both crushed on Cameron. There's got to be some good threesome fic out there somewhere. And you also picked up on the role reversal, as I intended!

That, or I could be completely psychoanalytical and say that Masters felt guilty for imagining torturing House so she set him in her own personal hell...
Why can't it be both? *grin* I do think that this would be hell for both of them... and that House has given Masters plenty of reason to wish him in it.

Although I also agree with your last point... Thirteen has never looked so good.

When they had that little conversation I was imagining something with guns (or possibly gags...) but I love your ideas - they are so perfect for them all (Taub's is so creeepy!). Foreman would love to be in charge and have House running his errands - he'd be so smug!Brilliant!

Thank you! I really hadn't thought about this before, but once blackmare asked the question, all of these little scenarios popped right into my head.

Thanks for writing. Yeah, I totally agree that Forman has little fantasy.
When I read the line "Masters pictures House locked in a bare, bright, room with blank walls..." I thought "Oh, my God! She dreams of House to be locked in a mental hospital!" But your idea was much more smarter. I think this is the cruelest thing that could be wished for House.

She dreams of House to be locked in a mental hospital!
That was intentional, actually. While Masters isn't imagining a mental hospital, I also meant to allude to "Broken." Being trapped in that room would have been torture even without the agony of withdrawal from his Vicodin habit.

Thanks very much for your comments!

And what about Thirteen? I think she is really imaginative!!! :)

Ha ha, I agree. On the other hand, I don't think that she bears any grudges against House - she seems to take what he says to her in stride, and he hasn't actually done anything terrible to her as far as I can recall.

Also, Thirteen has drugged House and then taken both lung and liver biopsies from him without anesthesia.

I think she already lived her revenge fantasy.

I'm amazed and very happy that you did this!

Wow, I don't remember that at all! Which ep was this?

It was fun - thanks for the prompt!

Well, he did give the gun back to Jason in Last Resort which smart move ended up nearly killing her....I would have been pretty cheesed off with him for that (and in the real world House would have probably done some jail time I would imagine)and then there was whole screwing with Foreman and 13 over their relationship - and he did fire her a time or two...

Hmm, good point. Thirteen does have some legitmate gripes against House. She never seems to look/sound resentful, though. Maybe this is part of her deeply private nature... or maybe it's because OW isn't much of an actor.

Hey, Olivia Wilde is fine. Not great, but fine for her scenes. And I suspect she would make House drunk, seduce him to participate in a threesome, make compromising photos and blackmail him afterwards! :)

Somehow I don't think that such photos would embarrass House. You know what would? Pictures of him being nice (to quote Wilson).

Hee. Taub's fantasy is just a metaphor, of course. It's the socially awkward and unsightly bits that he would like to trim away.

Oh, fabulous! Loved them all - especially Taub's - I could see him actually dreaming something like this, cutting away until all that's left is House's teeny, tiny heart.

Also liked Chase's - but I may have a teeny, tiny thing for H/Ch. Very teeny.

And Foreman's - very, very Foreman. I love him - but yes, I agree, imagination is not his forte. It is, however, yours! Fantastic :)

*snort* Awesome addition, there!

Yes, I might just have a teeny thing for H/Ch myself ;).

Foreman has certainly shown he can be devious. But I see him as a sort of practical realist - someone who doesn't waste time wishing that things could be different.

Thanks so much for your comments!
